I miss the rain!

It rained this morning in Encinitas! Whoo hoo! I can't remember the last time it rained here. I first noticed it was raining when I heard VERY loud thunder directly over my house. Erek just looked at me with his wide eyes, wondering what that sound was. So, I guess technically it didn't rain, more like sprinkled. But the thunder was really cool and it made me miss getting actual rain. I wish it would rain around here more often!

Visiting Summer

Whenever Brian and I take a drive up to the Mission Viejo area, we like to stop and visit Summer Dan. This past Saturday, we had that opportunity. This was Erek's first time to Summer's grave and so we decided to take a couple of pictures. I can only imagine the bond the two of them had only 9 months ago.

Going to the Ballpark

We took Erek to his first Padres game a couple of Saturdays ago. We decided to try something new and take the Coaster to the game. Well, we took the Coaster to the Santa Fe Station in downtown San Diego and then hopped on the trolley that dropped us off about a block from Petco Park. It was a fun experience... at first. We all enjoyed the train ride down there and were glad that we didn't have to look for a $20 parking spot. The walk to the park wasn't bad and we were able to grab some food to take to our seats. The game was fun to watch, even though the Padres lost, and we decided to take off at the top of the ninth inning, to get a head start back to the train. We hopped on the trolley that wasn't too crowded and then got to the train in record time. We didn't realize until we arrived at the train station, that there was only one train leaving the station at that time of night and it was scheduled to leave 50 minutes after the last out in the game. So, we got there too early and had to wait for every other fan that was taking the train home to arrive before we could leave. I think we waited for an hour, or two, I can't remember. It felt like forever. Poor Erek was tired and fighting going to sleep. When he is home, he is REAL easy. We just stick him in his crib when he gets tired and he doesn't fuss at all. Just falls asleep. It's a whole different story when someone is holding him, trying to get him to close his eyes. Darn near impossible. So, he was up until we got home at 11:45pm and was not happy when I woke him up at 8:30 the next morning to leave for church. Next time, we decided that we would take the car.

Aunt Kristi, the great photographer!

Erek LOVES his Aunt Kristi. Somehow, while juggling 3 of her own kids, she managed to find time to take pictures of him while he was playing at her house. These are adorable! Thanks Aunt Kristi!

The Bonnie Hunt Show

On Wednesday, my friend Ashley took me to see the Bonnie Hunt Show. It was... pretty cool. I had never been on a TV set before and it was a fun experience. Ashley told me beforehand that she had VIP tickets, but for some reason, that didn't register. I forgot that she had even told me until we got there and didn't have to wait in line to get in because we were VIP's. I thought that was pretty cool. The part that wasn't so cool was that I sat in the front row! Ugh. It wouldn't have been so bad had I been about 20 pounds lighter (which is my goal by Thanksgiving). I wasn't expecting everyone to have a full frontal view. Oh well. It's not so bad. The show was during the day, no one would be home to watch it anyways, right? Wrong. Ugh again. :)

The show itself, I think, is a pretty good and entertaining show. I enjoyed watching Bonnie Hunt and because my big butt was in the front row, I got to chat with her briefly during one of the breaks. She seems... genuine. She has a beautiful smile, looks good, and is pretty funny. I am glad that she is accomplishing a lifelong goal of hers and I hope that her show really takes off. She didn't rehearse anything before the show started and she took the time after to really thank us for coming. Oh! And Hillary Duff made an appearance and gave us all a huge bottle of her new perfume. It smells ok.
